The Sleeping War Rages On

Remember a few weeks ago, I complained about my children’s sleeping schedules? This is another post in which I continue to gripe.

Evan just down right refuses to sleep in past 7:00 (7:30 if we have to be somewhere). And he refuses to take a nap. He has learned that if he can keep his eyes opened for the hour that I set for rest time, he can get up. So he does everything in his power to stay awake. EVEN when he is exhausted.

And now we bring into the mix – waking up several times during the night. I am assuming he is soooo over tired that it is disrupting his night time sleep. But he still wakes up bright and early and bounces out of bed, as if he has no sense at all.

Granted, I don’t care about HOW many HOURS the boys sleep but it is definitely impacting on Evan’s attitude. HE is starting to get whiny, he’s not chipper to go ANYWHERE in the mornings. He drags his feet complaining about how tired he is!

I have an idea: THEN GO TO SLEEP kid.

Last week on the way to basketball practice he fell asleep in the truck {and yes I totally took a picture of it and sent it to Jeremy who was driving behind me}. We couldn’t wake him once we got to basketball, so we decided to take him home and put him to bed. Of course by the time we got home and in bed, he awakened and threw a MASSIVE fit that we were putting him to bed. He insisted on going to basketball (even though we already missed practice) and insisted on having dinner at Babci’s house (that’s what we do after basketball). And since he managed to get a 30 minute nap in, he REFUSED to go to bed at bedtime, because he “wasn’t tired”.

It’s killing me. And you know what else is killing me? The deep purple dark circles under his eyes. As if we keep me up all night long.

Have any of your kids gone through this??
