Super Mario is my Best Friend

Recently I have instituted a strict schedule on when Evan can play Mario. I wanted to make sure that boundaries were set early on, so that his game time wouldn’t get out of control. You know, since he is slightly obsessed!

So each morning, Evan asks what day it is (because he is a complete control freak and needs to know his schedule for the day).

It’s goes like this:

{Monday}

Evan: Mom, What day is it?

Me: It’s Monday.

Evan: Yeah, we get to go to Grandma’s today!!

{Tuesday}

Evan: Mom, What day is it today?

Me: It’s Tuesday.

Evan: We are going to go to Babci’s house today. I’m Babci’s bud on Tuesdays.

See we kinda have a set schedule through the week. And Evan is finally figuring it out.

So last week, when Friday came around, he asked Jeremy what day it was and when Jeremy said “Friday”, a jubilant little boy went screaming through the house, “It’s MARIO day, It’s Mario day, It’s Mario day!”

I felt good that he finally stopped asking if he could play “Mario”, every day. Boundaries were set and everything was going great until Monday.

Sunday, he came down with a nasty bug. He coughed all night Sunday night, Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night. Needless to say, that him and I were exhausted all week.

But the funny thing about Evan, when he gets sick he gets hyper and very jittery. Which isn’t a good combination for making him rest.

What’s the next best thing then?

Breaking my own rule.

Because let’s just say, Wednesday I sent Carter to Grandma’s and Evan and I played Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Galaxy 2 ALL. DAY. LONG!!! And it was good!
