I am having such a hard time getting back into the swing of things. Man! I turned around and it’s Thursday already! How did that happen? And I really don’t have much to show for how busy I have felt this week! Because really I haven’t been that busy. Although I have been breaking up fights, refereeing yelling matches, mediating toy disputes along with just trying to stay sane.
Although I am not ready for summer to end, I thing Evan is definitely ready and needing to get back to the structure of school. We have had some hard weeks recently with Evan. He has so many great qualities but right now, all I can see are the negative ones! I hate it, but unfortunately it’s the truth right now. Jeremy and I are pulling our hair out trying to find something that will motivate him to be more patient, less high strung, more kind to his brother, less grumpy and more respectful toward me! It’s as if he skipped ages 6 through 12 and entered the teen years this summer. Each night I am a stressed out mess, fully exhausted from dealing with a boat load of little things that happen through the day.
Don’t get me wrong, I am fully aware that Carter is not so innocent in all of this either. Carter has learned which buttons to push with Evan which means I am breaking up way too many brawls that Carter usually gets injured in – physically and/or emotionally. I only hope that one of these days, Carter will be strong enough to take him and I can sit back and let them work it out on their own! After all boys should be boys right?
And some of it is definitely my fault for not keeping them busy with mind stimulating activities. But really, he is old enough to go find something to do besides following me around, pestering at any opportunity. And besides, IT’S THE SUMMER TIME kid, enjoy it while it lasts. But he won’t and can’t and is counting down the days until school starts again.
Until then, you can find me with my whistle and stripes on, hiding in a random corner in the house, shaking, with chocolate and coffee!
Dude. I FEEL YA!!!
I keep preaching Ephesians 6:1-3 to BOTH of them…
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Honor your father and mother—which is the first commandment with a promise—so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.
I thought maybe EVAN was the one getting it, but apparently not!
Don’t give up…God has His ways of getting through to little hearts!
