A week ago, today, we brought this little guy home:
It was a bittersweet trip. Although I was super excited to bring home the little booger, my heart was heavy that I was bringing home this little booger. It was exactly 4 weeks since putting down Vic. The evening after putting Vic down, Jeremy and I were talking about how much we truly were used to Vic being our watch dog. He was an amazing watch dog. He would have protected his family until death, if needed. Jeremy, I think, finally realized how much he had relied on Vic to guard our home. I had told Jeremy that I needed at least 6 months before even thinking about getting another dog. Our schedule is super, crazy busy right now and adding a puppy to the mix is just plain suicidal. But Jeremy actually encouraged me to start looking right away, just so we could get another watch dog sooner versus later. And I do have to admit, searching for a new puppy days after losing Victor, did help ease the pain of losing him in a distorted kind of way. And although, the boys and I had a paper chain counting down the days until picking up the new guy, the days leading up to puppy day were hard on my heart.
But it was all worth it hearing the giggles and the squeals when the boys finally met Oliver. It was instantaneous bonding! The puppy is totally enthralled with the boys as much as the boys are with him. They think it’s the coolest thing to be able to pick him up and carry him around. They want to snuggle with him constantly and even think it’s funny when Oliver gets nipping at their toes and ears!
Evan has been surprisingly caring and gentle with Oliver. It is a side of him that we don’t see very often. Oliver thinks Evan is pretty cool.
One week down, and Oliver is fully comfortable in our family! I think we have officially started the puppy stage and we will see how much longer we will keep him around
. It’s a good thing he is so cute! After a week, it’s hard to think about not having him in our family now! Welcome to our family, Oliver!
Hi is adorable! We just love terriers, but I am waiting till my little ones are a bit older before indulging.
Enjoy him.
Hey Cort, I just can`t stand not leaving a comment any longer. You know, I hate dogs, I hate cats, and I don`t like kids. But for whatever reason, I really like that little black doggie. I wish you would buy your mom one just like it.
